Judge's Day is a special celebration of the Peruvian calendar that takes place every August 4 . The purpose of this date is to highlight and honor the work that these vigilantes of the laws do for the fulfillment of the norms, justice and peace.
Here we tell you why Judge's Day is celebrated on August 4.
Origin of Judge's Day
The Judge's Day is an anniversary that has been celebrated every August 4 since 1971. This date was established by Decree Law 18918 of August 3, issued during the government of Division General EP, Juan Velasco Alvarado; a government that was not characterized by being precisely democratic.
The date of August 4 was chosen in memory of the day on which the Liberator Don José San Martín San Martín, created the High Chamber of Justice, which happened to replace the Royal Spanish Court and which constitutes the direct antecedent of the current one Supreme Court of Justice. This event occurred on August 4, 1821.
Thus, a few days after the independence of the Spanish regime was declared, Don José de San Martín, inspired by the purpose of centralizing power in the new state in formation, instituted in Lima, the High Chamber of Justice, to replace the Royal Spanish audience and the hearers. A century and a half later, Juan Velasco Alvarado proclaimed August 4 as the Day of the Judge in Peru.
